Rabat, Morocco family travel and accessible travel

Why visit Rabat? Is it worth visiting with kids?

Family of four at Hassan Tower in Rabat, Morocco

If there were one place we wish we’d stayed long during our 6 weeks in Morocco, it’s Rabat.

At the northwestern edge of Africa, Morocco’s coastal capital city has a modern tram for getting around, historical attractions, and delicious foods. The cookies alone are worth visiting!

The city’s grid-based medina is fun to walk around and easier to navigate than Fes. One of our favorite moments staying in the medina was the multiple, interweaving calls to prayer from the many mosques in the area.

You can easily reach Rabat by rail from Tangier, Fes, and southern cities.
