Why visit Tangier? Is it worth visiting with kids?

Morocco defies labels and combines identities that might surprise you. Easily reachable via hour and a half ferries from Tarifa, Spain, the port city of Tangier gives visitors a starting point that combines influences from Europe, the Middle East, Islam, African Berber culture, and more.
Tangier is even home to the American Legation. This historic building once housed the USA’s Embassy to Morocco—all the more important, given that Morocco was the first government to recognize the USA as a nation in 1777.
Our family of four has spent 6 weeks in Morocco, including a couple of weeks in Tangier, full of local history and (more importantly) local food. Below are some of our insights, experiences, and recommendations.
