The beautiful rainy day: New family video below!
Anthony has a younger cousin named Alex, and when Alex was a little boy, around three or four years old, he said something that Anthony still tries to remember every day—a bit of rainy day wisdom, if you will.
It was raining hard one morning, the story goes, and Alex was getting ready.
“It’s a beautiful day,” he told his mom.
“It’s pouring down outside,” his mom replied.
Alex didn’t miss a beat. “It can still be a beautiful day.”
Fast forward to this particular day in western Oregon, and this philosophy of rainy day wisdom is good to remember.
After all, life is about doing what you can with what you have. And when a hard rain means you wind up with a big puddle in your driveway… Well, we’ll just leave it to you to watch the video below to see what the kids did to make their particular rainy day a beautiful one.
It can still be a beautiful day
Of course, that doesn’t mean a “beautiful day” is the same thing as an “easy day.” We have days where it’s hard to find the beauty, the fun, the step forward, the good part of what is happening to or around us.
But we seek it out. Actually, the hard days are when a little rainy day wisdom can be the most important and helpful for seeking something useful.
We still give plenty of time and space to the hard parts, though. But when we can find the good bits, we find that helps us endure and get through the tough parts a little more easily.
A day can be hard. It can be unpleasant. It can be downright horrible. But maybe, just maybe, there still could be something that makes it a beautiful day after all.
And if not? Then hopefully there’s always tomorrow.
