When you have a disability, what’s it like to go through dive training?
That’s exactly what we wondered as we made our way to a pool in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. During 2 days of confined water training there, then 2 days of open water scuba training in Malaysia’s Perhentian Islands, our family completed diving certifications.
Above all, Jodie completed PADI’s adaptive dive training as an amputee with one leg. We wrote about our experiences for Accessible Journeys Magazine. Our article is out now, in the October 2025 issue:
We are the Learners and Makers: Jodie, Anthony, Connor, and Aster. We empower families and people with mobility disabilities to travel confidently, their way. With a cozy vibe that focuses on how to slow down, connect, and enjoy each day, our worldschooling family of four has been traveling the world full time since 2022.
